Nine monthly seminars provide exposure to a variety of science and technology oriented careers. These experiences create that “aha” moment when students connect their interest with an otherwise unknown career option.

Rising seniors have direct exposure to their field of interest and learn first-hand about workplace expectations. Earning more than minimum, they experience the direct correlation between education and earning potential.

With intensive assistance, seniors learn to select the best schools for their academic and professional goals, and complete their college and financial aid applications.
Alumni Support

This ongoing safety net of support is multi faceted, including facilitating group study sessions and peer mentoring to resume review and interview training. 80% of Building STEPS graduates earn a college degree.

Building STEPS is a 501 (c)(3) not-for-profit built on one simple principle; a college education changes a person’s life. The multi-year program, supplementing students’ classroom learning, exposes bright, underserved high school students to science and technology-based careers, and helps them excel in these fields where minorities are overwhelmingly underrepresented.

Eighty percent of Building STEPS graduates earn a college degree, almost all of whom are the first to do so in their family.
