Position:

Be a part of a collaborative team that is transforming the trajectory of Baltimore City youth. The Program Associate, College Success is a full-time professional dedicated to our students’ college persistence, completion and transition to young professional. This position is responsible for managing all summer interns, and co-facilitates the Summer Workshops and College Workshops. The Program Associate is responsible for implementing programming integral to college persistence and completion; engages directly with our college students, Alumni council, partners and volunteers, and reports to and works closely with the Chief Program Officer.

Building STEPS (Science Technology And Education Partnerships Inc.) is a nonprofit that equips our city’s brightest students with the tools to propel them to college and career success. Through multi-year, comprehensive programming, nearly 80% of Building STEPS graduates earn a college degree, nearly all the first in their family to do so.

Responsibilities:

  • Match all students with summer internship positions, collaborating with the Volunteer Coordinator for internship success. Serve as point of contact for all students throughout the placement process and internship
  • Coordinate and manage all YouthWorks logistics
  • Facilitate Summer Workshops, including guest presenters
  • Facilitate College Bridge programming, easing the transition from high school to college and familiarizing first year college students with academic and campus resources
  • Provide proactive direct support to ensure college persistence and completion, including troubleshooting, informal counseling, campus visits and regular, multi-platform communications
  • Connect college students with campus resources and create campus-based peer groups
  • Integrate Backpack2Briefcase curriculum into students’ college plan
  • Through communications and programs, inform families about college access, persistence and completion supports and strategies
  • Advance the goals and objectives of Alumni Council

Required Qualifications:

  • Experience working with undergraduate college students preferred
  • Strategic thinker with strong communication and presentation skills
  • Self-starter comfortable working on multiple projects and deadlines
  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office
  • Has own transportation to travel to area college campuses

Salary:

Salary is commensurate with experience. Position includes health care allowance, work from home 2 days/week, paid time off, Federal holidays and winter break. Building STEPS office is located on the campus of Towson University.
