Accepted through an application process, Building STEPS students are high achieving and attend any of our fifteen, city-wide BCPS partner schools. Eligible students have a demonstrated interest in STEM, strong school attendance and a minimum 3.0 GPA.

Building STEPS does not have an income requirement and programming is provided free of charge to students and partner schools.

Building STEPS is the proven mechanism to escalate college and career outcomes for our city’s high potential students. Nearly 80% of Building STEPS program graduates earn a college degree. 87% of Building STEPS students are the first in their family to earn a college degree and more than 90% qualify for college financial aid.
